How to Test Diodes

multimeter1Most multimeters have a diode check mode. The positive lead on your multimeter goes to the anode on the diode and the negative lead goes to the cathode. The multimeter should display voltage, generally between 0.6 and 0.7 V. Reverse the leads and, if the diode is functioning, you should get an infinite reading.
