Analog and Digital multimeters are both excellent choices for electronic engineers and for hobbyists. Which one you choose really only depends upon your preferences. The difference is that Digital multimeters have a digital display that can give you very precise, numerical readouts that let you know the condition of a circuit. Analog multimeters use a needle on a scale. These can provide very accurate measurements, as well, but learning to read them takes a little bit more time and practice.
